In May 2001 we stayed at the Hotel Auberge, a small (29 room) hotel a very short walk from Wittenberg platz, towards the West part of the city centre.
We booked on-line, through the "Bookings DE" reservations service at , which worked just fine. We paid their lowest pubished rate for a standard double room (inc. breakfast): DEM 248/night (approx £85), which for four nights = DEM 992 in total (approx: £340 = £170 each).
This was a friendly and comfortable hotel, with a very tasy breakfast buffet. The room was a reasonable size, and double glazed, although not air conditioned - which could be a problem in the summer as the traffic noise at the front of the building (where our room was) is quite bad in the mornings. The location is nice and central, with a number of cafes and restaurants close by. Being close to a U-bahn station on the U1 and U2 lines means that most of the rest of Berlin is within easy reach. |
