What started as a novel idea for celebrating Dave's birthday turned into a major trip. From Halifax, on the Atlantic coast, we travelled by rail over 4,000 miles (about 6,450 km) right across Canada to Vancouver on the Pacific.

With almost 100 hours travelling on scheduled trains, it is possible to do the 3-leg trip in just 6 days, but we spent a little time en route in Montreal, Ottawa, and Toronto, as well as Halifax and Vancouver, of course.

On these pages you can see our itinerary, a detailed map, details of the hotels we stayed at, and the trains we travelled on, photos, some on-line resources, and a bookmark page with lots of links and miscellaneous information that we gathered together in planning the trip.
