This hotel on the west side of Hamburg is converted from an old coal-gas works. It is very stylish, and there is a strong emphasis on quality architecture and design. The conversion has been particularly well done, and although many of the rooms (particularly the cheaper ones) have internal windows looking into the large interior spaces, this does not seem matter. Our room was very spacious and very nicely furnished, with an unusual view over some old plant and machinery which had been left suspended over what is now a sushi bar. The hotel also has a friendly, cosy bar, and a very good Italian/International restaurant - Da Caio.
A very good hotel all round, and well worth paying a bit extra for. The only draw-back is its location on the West side of Hamburg, about 5km from the city centre. However, there is an S-bahn station about 10 minutes walk away. |
