Train to Harwich

Country: UK
Travelling: London/Harwich
Day 1 - Sunday 20 July

Andrew on the train to Harwich

The train from Liverpool Street Station to Harwich International was a standard Anglia Railways InterCity train. We decided to spurn the "plebs" in Standard class and pay the £3 supplement and upgraded to "Weekend First".

To our dismay, there was no buffet or refreshment troley on the train. According to the guard this was simply because "the lady hasn't turned-up". We are NOT PLEASED about this! Neither of us having had much in the way of breakfast, let alone lunch, we are starving and parched by the end of the 1½ hour journey.

You will note a number of travellers essentials in the photo of Andrew above: tickets, maps, camera, sunglasses, sweeties, money, hat, low-maintenance haircut
(Oh God! Where did I put the passport?)

The picture of Dave on the right may illustrate any or all of the following:

  • even an expensive camera can get it wrong sometimes
  • Andrew is a crap photographer
  • isn't it amazing what you can do with digital editing these days (you should have seen the original print!)
