Christmas on the Moors |
|
|
We spent Christmas 1998 with Andrew's brother Graham, sister in-law Belinda, and 4 year-old nephew Jago. We rented a cottage for the week in the tiny village of Lastingham on the southern edge of the North Yorkshire Moors. We had all the right ingredients for a classic Cristmas holiday - not least because we actually had snow! (see the pics) We also travelled by high-speed train and steam train, had a fish and chip lunch by the sea at Whitby, visited one of Dracula's haunts (in a hail storm!), went for walks (and drives) on the moors, and discovered a good few country inns. Andrew found a Viking "hogback" grave stone (though not the ones that we were looking for), and Dave had plenty of time to lounge about in front of the fire. This was a rather different holiday than Dave and Andrew are used to, so our treatment of it on these pages will be a bit different too. Trouble is, we haven't worked out what to do yet. So for the time being you will have to settle for this page and the photo album. | ||
